Alkali-refined linseed oil is a pale oil derived from flax seeds. When added to oil paint, it increases gloss and transparency while thinning the paint for smoother flow and reduced brushmark retention. It also extends drying time and is ideal for use with dry pigments.
Please note: soft materials that have absorbed linseed oil should be stored in sealed containers, as exposure to air causes the oil to oxidise and generate heat—enough to risk spontaneous combustion. Brushes and tools used with linseed oil should be cleaned with white spirit.
