Copper is a malleable, ductile medium-strength metal that can be easily moulded and shaped. It's a non-magnetic material, and has very high thermal and electrical conductivity.
Copper is a chemical element (Cu) and is one of the few metals that occurs in a directly usable metallic form naturally. Copper has a pinkish-orange colour.
Copper is a non-ferrous metal - non-ferrous metals are metals that do not contain iron in appreciable quantities, this makes them more malleable. They also have lower weight, higher conductivity, non-magnetic properties and more resistance to corrosion compared to ferrous metals. These qualities mean that they are generally more expensive than ferrous metals (such as steel).
